1 Man, 1 Day, 250 Tonnes! The Big Lift for Beacon

February 4th, 2011

In March 2011 James Fernihough of Kingswinford will attempt an amazing feat for charity – he will be lifting an incredible 250 tonnes (the equivalent of 50 elephants) in 24 hours at his local gym. I will be filming on the day of the event but I just wanted to point you in the direction of this great cause. He hopes to raise £25000 for the Beacon Centre for the Blind in Wolverhampton and I’m sure you will agree that the hard work and effort that he will be putting in to achieve this is well worth supporting. I recently filmed a promo video for the event and you can see it here.

5 Reasons to Invest in a Corporate Video Production…

June 22nd, 2010

So are you wondering ‘why would I need a business video production for my company?’ Here’s my 5 main reasons why you should….

1) IMPACT

What has more of an impact if you see an advertisement for a new movie?

a) A 30 second high impact TV trailer?
b) A newspaper advertisement?

The same is true with video. You can deliver your business message with a high impact video. Not only will it be memorable, but it will make you stand out from your competitors.

2) CREDIBILITY

When trying to gain new business it’s always difficult but a video production of your business gives you credibility and transparency in the eyes of your potential customers. They can see what you do, the scale of your company and how you do it.

3) WHERE PRODUCT IS KEY

Have you got a cracking product and wish to show off its benefits and features? What better way than with an eye-catching video? It can be a great asset for sales agents to show to potential clients, can bring direct sales through your website and generate business for you immediately and cost-effectively.

4) COST SAVING

If you have a need for training programmes a video can save you thousands and improve your company efficiency. It can illustrate new practices in the work place, provide a training base for new employees or a complete training portal to integrate into your e-training solutions.

5) SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION / SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Social Media is huge and how many of you have received videos from your friends and networks? A corporate video production can still exploit the viral marketing revolution and your business can directly benefit from lead generation and Search Engine Optimisation as a direct result of this.

Conga in your Bra for World Record Attempt

June 12th, 2010

Hi there, and a belated post regarding a tremendous event last weekend at Bromsgrove Rugby Club. Karen Tomalin and the team at 2nd Skin Lingerie in Bromsgrove are attempting a World Record Attempt to create a chain of 200,000 bras and I have been welcomed into their plans by providing video coverage of the events along the way. The day was a great laugh and I met up with Michelle Mills-Porter whose excellent
Business Link seminars I have attended in the past, and Ian Prowse of The Best of Bromsgrove. There was even time for me to chat to Miss Worcester 2010 – Katie Sinclair who will now be in the Miss England final in London in September – good luck to her and thanks for taking the time to support this great cause. As the title of the post says there really was a conga in your bra which unfortunately had to be done in the marquee as it had started raining but it dampened no-one’s spirit as the video to follow will show you. Thanks to all the guys in attendance for making it such a memorable day and well done for continuing to help so many good causes – namely the
Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, Women’s Aid UK, Breast Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care UK.

Grand Prix Karting – in a Cherry Picker?

June 4th, 2010

Yesterday’s promotional video shoot at Grand Prix Karting in Birmingham was exhilarating, not just because I was filming go karts hurtling round the New International Circuit where Jenson Button has visitied recently, but I was also hoisted up in a cherry picker to get some maginificent shots of the track from above – here’s some stills from the footage….

Grand Prix Karting Birmingham

Just like the hairpin at Monaco!

Right above the track for this one

A view across Grand Prix Karting

The track was simply huge

John and Marco from Grand Prix Karting were really involved in the process and knew exactly what they wanted from their corporate video. We began filming people checking in then receiving a briefing, then filmed a group making their way to their karts before heading for the start line….

Go Karts are go!

Green light - GO GO GO

We then filmed plenty of footage around the track before going up in the cherry picker – it was a bit wobbly to start with but once you were up there and recording it was simply brilliant. We finished by presenting the winning driver with a medal and showing their ready-made podium which is used on race days. It was such a hot day that this was a great way to cool off….

And the press conference came next!

Thanks to everyone at Grand Prix Karting for their help and to Marco for rallying the troops throughout (I think there’s a secret film director in there waiting to spring out because he was so in to it). And thanks also to Marco for the wonderful burger afterwards. Your video will be online in few weeks so check out Yell.com soon.

Finesse Windows Corporate Video Shoot

May 14th, 2010

If you ever thought double glazing and modern windows and doors were secure, think again. At my corporate video shoot yesterday with Finesse Windows in Kings Norton I met Russell, Andy and John who wished to demonstrate the security features of their products. We began by trying to smash a traditional lock and it took just 90 seconds for the lock to be split in half and the ‘intruder’ to get in. Next, using Finesse’s alternative lock, which breaks off near the outer side of the lock, the door remained locked and despite efforts to ‘break in’ with a crowbar, shovel and even a pickaxe, the door simply wouldn’t budge. I must say it was quite an eye-opener! I continued to film the company premises later in the day and their video will soon be hosted on Yell.com as part of their current marketing. I can honestly say that for peace of mind their locking system is a must for any homeowner.

Direct Visual Annual Awards

May 10th, 2010

Last week saw Direct Visual hold their annual awards ceremony at Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield. Once again I was asked to film the event and it was a cracking evening (as ever). Rather than the usual speeches Chairman and MD Mike and Marina wished to produce a video highlighting the key achivements of the last year and the company’s vision for the future. The video mentioned previously on this blog was shown on a big screen and it went down a storm with everyone in attendance. I’d personally like to thank all the interviewees in the video for such elequent and passionate responses to the questions – it really made all the difference. Thank you also to Simon of Innovation Productions for being such a help on the day. Simon helped to show the outputs of my cameras onto big screens at the event which really added to the visual quality of the stage. Next year’s event will soon roll round and I look forward to seeing everyone again then.

Landons Luxury Bathrooms Video

April 13th, 2010

It’s amazing how far bathroom design has come in the last 10 years or so – it’s no longer a case of choosing a sink, bath and set of taps. There are literally hundreds of styles and options available to make a bathroom a relaxing and stylish space as I discovered when I filmed at Landons Luxury Bathrooms in Erdington, Birmingham. The choice is vast and some of the bathroom suites they had on show there were superb – with a few even sporting the world famous Jacuzzi Brand. Very tempting!

Leamore Windows Corporate Video

April 13th, 2010

I must say that I was very impressed with the quality of the showroom of Leamore Windows in Walsall where I filmed late last week. Gary Hackett was very helpful and we looked at all the products which he wanted to portary for his corporate video. I was particuarly impressed with the mock houses they have created at the back of the showroom to fully demonstrate how the windows look when installed and it’s a great way to show off what they do – needless to say that I got quite a few shots of it as it really does look great on video!
